DOE Announces Philips 60W LED Replacement Light Wins First L Prize Contest

[High-tech LED News] Recently, the US Energy Agency (DOE) announced the Philips 60W LED replacement lamp and won the DOE's first "Lighting Tomorrow" Lighting Competition Award (L Prize).

The L Prize was established by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. In September 2009, Philips submitted its 60W LED replacement lamp to the DOE to participate in the L Prize competition, which was the first entry for the L Prize.

After reviewing all the reports, test results, inspections and other documents of the Philips 60W LED replacement lamp, the technical review committee confirmed that the product meets the competition requirements and officially awarded the Philips Prize L Prize in North America.

It is reported that the participating products need to undergo rigorous testing, including: performance testing, life testing, stress testing, etc. (these tests are carried out by independent laboratories), and also need to conduct field assessment (to be completed by L Prize partners).

The DOE also received a letter of intent from the Lighting Science Group and GE Lighting to participate in the L Prize competition for its 60W LED replacement lamp. The DOE said that it is no longer accepting new applicants for the project, but other competitions for the L Prize will be announced in the future.
