In 2020, my first 10,000 ton unmanned ship was completed

Following drones and driverless cars, intelligent ships with smart devices will also come to our lives. China's first 10,000-ton unmanned ship is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2020. Self-adaptive intelligent equipment for deep-sea exploration at 10,000 meters is also under development. This is the information disclosed by the sub-forum of the “Intelligent Ship Auxiliary Machine System” of the 19th China International Maritime Exhibition held yesterday.

In the forum yesterday, smart ships became the topic of focus. “In the field of traditional shipbuilding, China was once lagging behind the developed countries, but we are at the forefront of the world in smart ships,” said Li Jianming, assistant to the director of the 704th Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry. China is the first country in the world to issue intelligent ship regulations. The second British Lloyd's Register of Shipping to publish such plans is several months later than China.

In the "13th Five-Year Plan for Transportation Specialized Scientific and Technological Innovation Special Plan" released recently, the development of smart ship key equipment is also included in the key tasks of China's transportation technology innovation in the next five years. Li Jianming believes that this is not only for better boating, but also that intelligent will bring about disruptive technological changes for the shipbuilding industry.

Ships have to be smart and they need a lot of sensors to get the ship’s “perceived” capabilities. The 704-based cloud-based shipbuilding equipment networked intelligent service platform has integrated data collected on ships, such as generator sets, steering gears, fin stabilizers, sewage treatment systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems. At present, the luxury cruise ships sailing on the Three Gorges, "Century Mythology" and "Legend of the Century" have become the first cruise ships to install intelligent cloud platform.

According to another briefing, smart ships also make it possible for some deep sea scientific research assignments to be completed by only one person. According to Li Bin, a senior engineer of the special equipment division at 704, it is precisely because of this that China will have the ability to explore the deep sea of 10,000 meters.
