PI introduces low recovery loss LQA200 series 200 V diode

Power Integrations, Inc. (Nasdaq: POWI) announced the introduction of the LQA200 series of 200 V diodes.

The company's QspeedTM high-performance silicon diodes are based on a combined PIN technology with soft switching characteristics and low reverse recovery charge (Qrr). This unique combination of features enables high frequency operation, allowing the use of smaller, lower cost core components while increasing productivity.

These new 200 V soft diodes are available in a common cathode configuration ranging from 10 A to 40 A, which reduces peak reverse voltage, increasing voltage margin and enhancing reliability and ruggedness. In addition, the need for snubber capacitors can be reduced or even eliminated, helping to further increase efficiency and reduce costs. Compared to similar Schottky products, the Qspeed diode reduces Qrr by up to 80% and has a 45% lower junction capacitance.

Klaus Pietrczak, Product Marketing Manager, Power Integrations, said: "Our new LQA200 diodes are suitable for hard or soft switching applications in power supply output rectifier circuits, such as communication power supplies and audio amplifiers. Designers can save space by reducing the level of EMI generated. And component cost, while improving performance with a better design."

According to Power Integrations, the LQA200 diodes are now available in DPAK, D2PAK and TO-220 packages, with prices ranging from $0.40 to $1.20 for 10,000 orders.
