Microchip Technology Inc. announced the launch of its fourth-generation JukeBlox platform to help major audio brands develop high-quality, low-latency products, such as single or multi-room wireless speakers, AV receivers, small and micro systems And sound bars, etc. In order to enhance the consumer’s listening experience, Microchip’s new JukeBlox 4 software development kit (SDK) is equipped with CY920 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth network media modules, and includes a new generation of dual-band Wi-Fi technology, MultiZone (multi-zone)/multi-room Features, AirPlay and DLNA connection, and integrated music services. In addition, the cost savings of new products are significant, which helps to create highly competitive consumer products while significantly reducing material costs.
The certified CY920 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth network media module is based on Microchip’s new low-cost DM920 Wi-Fi network media processor, integrated 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi connection, high-speed USB 2.0 connection and Ethernet connection. The use of speakers in the 5 GHz frequency band avoids the common RF congestion phenomenon in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, can greatly reduce the volume drop, and can use a larger number of speakers in a multi-room / overall home audio system.
The DM 920 Wi-Fi network media processor also integrates a 300 MHz DSP dual core, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for expensive independent DSP chips. At the same time, the easy-to-use, PC-based graphical user interface (GUI) also greatly simplifies the use of the pre-developed kit of standard DSP algorithms for speaker adjustment. It includes a 15-band equalizer, multi-band dynamic range compression, equalizer presets, and Various filter types. In this way, engineers who lack DSP code writing experience can easily implement DSP in their designs, and experienced DSP engineers can make full use of industry standard DSP architecture.
With JukeBlox 4, product developers can build solutions that allow users to use their mobile device as a remote control to directly enjoy cloud-based music services such as SpoTIfy Connect, Qobuz, Rhapsody and Deezer through streaming media. This allows mobile devices to move freely within the Wi-Fi network without interrupting music playback, and it greatly extends battery life. JukeBlox technology will continue to provide seamless cross-platform support for iOS, Android, Windows 8 and Mac, as well as a full range of audio codecs and easy-to-use rich features to simplify network settings.
