Vishay expands surface mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced that it has expanded its VJ X8R series of surface mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCC) for high temperature applications. To save board space, these devices are now available in 0402 form factor. In addition, the voltage of the 0603 and 0805 form factor devices is increased to 100V.

The Vishay Vitramon capacitors released today are manufactured using precious metal electrode technology (NME) and wet processing. The device uses X8R dielectric and operates at +150°C. Typical applications for the device include sensory, power and signal conversion in petroleum exploration, well monitoring and industrial equipment. For hybrid applications, the device is available with a termination assembled with a conductive epoxy (termination code "E").

The VJ X8R series devices have a voltage rating of 100V, a capacitance range of 470pF to 390nF, and a temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC) of ±15% over a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C.
