China's LED lighting retail market is sluggish in 2012

High prices are not recognized

"LED general lighting sales in the store is not very good, but there are still many people asking, I believe that when the price drops to a certain extent, the public will give priority." Shenzhen Op Lighting distributor Mr. Chen reflected.

GLII believes that the high price of LED is a direct cause for consumers to accept. In response to the current retail situation, GLII conducted a follow-up survey on LED lighting products in Shenzhen Yiju, Yaju Decoration City and Xinxing Lighting City. It was found that there are many people interested in LED products, but there are very few real transactions.

It can be seen that in the lighting city, there are many people paying attention to LED lighting products, but they actually buy very few. During the investigation of GLII, a total of 87 people had seen or inquired about LED products, and only 4 people had purchased the products with a success rate of 4.6%.

“There are a lot of people watching LED lighting every day, but they buy very little. Sometimes they sell 10 light bulbs in one month, and sometimes the desk lamps are not sold. Overall, the price is unacceptable to everyone. Secondly, we don't know whether the LED is safe in the end. - Whether the bulb and other shells are aluminum will leak electricity, whether the power supply will explode, etc."

Among the 42 people interviewed, 30 people think that the price is expensive, accounting for 71.4%; 15 people are casually looking at it, accounting for 35.6%, and 4 people are afraid of leakage or power explosion, accounting for 9.5%. It can be seen that the current LED price is still the biggest obstacle to promotion.

Low consumer awareness

GLII believes that LED lighting is difficult to spread and has a direct relationship with the price, people's awareness of LED can not be ignored. More than 15 of the 42 respondents did not know about LEDs, accounting for nearly 30%, and even three people heard about LEDs for the first time. How to let the public know about LED lighting products is the main topic of LED lighting companies in the future.

The survey found that most consumers prefer white light products, they are less interested in warm white products, and they don't know much about brands. Only 4 people recognize brands, others don't care. What consumers care about is that as long as the product is broken, it can be changed, and there is no hidden danger. At the same time, respondents also said that when the number of purchases is small, they can choose to be in the supermarket, but if the home decoration or engineering projects generally choose lighting city or lighting city. According to statistics, the proportion of lighting cities is 70%, followed by specialty stores. GLII believes that lighting and specialty stores are still the top priority for consumers.

Preemptive market waiting for an outbreak

"At present, the LED retail industry is still difficult to start, but it must be distributed. LED lighting will sooner or later. It is mainly to do basic work and wait for the market to erupt. The retail industry is only step by step, and there will be more in the future market. More opportunities.” Opt dealer Mr. Chen pointed out.

The GLII survey found that there are not many LEDs sold in lighting counter stores, but most of the counters are equipped with LED lighting products. According to a person in charge of Shenzhen Century Center Lighting City, they are optimistic about national policies, and second, LED products are indeed energy-saving and environmentally friendly. However, he is not clear about the future market. He only hopes that he will not miss the opportunity when the market breaks out. It pointed out that in the first three quarters of 2012, the LED lighting products that they sold the most in the store were basically home decoration. It can be seen that home decoration LED lighting products are one of the highlights of lighting city sales.

GLII believes that as the demand for the public's life increases and the level of consumption continues to increase, the awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection will gradually increase, and LED lighting will gradually enter the public family. GLII expects that China's LED general lighting will gradually spread in the next three years.
