On October 9th, Cree announced the launch of XLamp® XP-G LED, the industry's brightest and most efficient lighting-grade LED, with a luminous flux of 367 lm and a luminous efficiency of 1A. It is 111 lm/W; compared with the previously introduced XR-E LED, the brightness is increased by 46%, the performance is also increased by 64%, and the volume is reduced by 80%, only 3.45x3.45mm.
According to Paul Thieken, director of marketing for Cree's LED components, XP-G is built for customers who have the highest level of LED brightness and efficiency, and has set a new standard in LED performance. On the other hand, Cree is now also offering a limited S2 flux bin for testing. With a 1A current, the luminous flux can reach 400lm. The target will also be able to launch medium white and warm white light samples by the end of 2009.
