The MAX14721-MAX14723 is an adjustable power limiter that introduces the MAX14721-MAX14723 features, application range, reference design circuitry, and circuit analysis to help you reduce design time.

Introduction to the MAX14721-MAX14723:
Maxim's integrated MAX14721, MAX14722, and MAX14723 high-precision adjustable power limiters protect the system from overcurrent faults, forward overvoltages, and reverse voltage faults when used with an optional external p-channel MOSFET Protect downstream circuits from voltage faults up to ±60V. The MAX14721-MAX14723 also include an FET that integrates a low on-resistance of 31mΩ. During startup, for applications that use large storage capacitors on the input to downstream devices, the device can concentrate a large amount of capacitance on the output in continuous mode. In addition, the MAX14721-MAX14723 divides the current-limit mode into two phases, limiting the current to 1.5x and 2x of the design limit for a short period of time after startup. This allows a large amount of charge to be collected faster during startup. The MAX14721-MAX14723 also feature reverse current protection and thermal protection. The device operates over the -40°C temperature range of 125°C.
