Oculus is investing a lot of time to improve the quality of Rift and Gear VR. The company brought a lot of consumer discounts during the summer, but they seem to have left behind the best: After testing the refund option in the UK, Oculus is ready to massively popularize this feature.
In the post published today, Oculus explained the rules of the new automatic refund system. On the Rift side, if you start the game or application less than two hours after purchase, you will have 14 days to apply for a refund. This is similar to Steam's refund strategy. If you have purchased PC games on Steam, I believe you will not be familiar with this rule.
As for Gear VR, the refund rules will be slightly more stringent. Your refund request is only 3 days long, and the total play time for the game or app requires less than 30 minutes. It's worth noting that not all Gear VR and Rift apps support refund options (but Oculus said most of them support).
Programs that do not support refunds include movies, bundles, and games or applications purchased as bundles. This rule also applies to content downloaded or purchased through the app. In addition, everything else seems reasonable, as long as you meet the other requirements for refunds. To request a refund, simply go to the Purchase History page on the Oculus Store.
In addition to refunds, Oculus also brought users a range of new features and optimizations this summer, including the Public Testing Channel and the Oculus Parties, among others. The company promises more quality optimization in the coming months.
