working principle
Circuit diagram of a flyback notebook adapter power supply designed with Power Integrations® TOPSwitch-HX TOP258EN offline switch IC. The power supply provides 19 V, 65 W output in a universal input range and is capable of operating in a hermetic enclosure with an ambient temperature of up to 40 °C.

- 132 kHz operating frequency reduces transformer size
- Low MOSFET capacitance allows operation at higher frequencies without reducing efficiency
- Extremely energy efficient
- No-load input power is very low: <200 mW at 265 VAC input
- High load efficiency: >87%
- High average efficiency: >86%
- Excellent transient no-load response
- Hysteresis overload thermal protection
- Overload protection provides automatic recovery
