"four carriages" to stimulate the development of Guangdong LED

According to Huang Ningsheng, director of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, since 2010, the average annual growth rate of LED industry in Guangdong has reached more than 25%. In 2013, the output value of Guangdong's LED industry reached 281.103 billion yuan. In the first three quarters of this year, Guangdong's LED industry realized a total output value of 254.679 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.95%, and it is expected to exceed 350 billion yuan in the whole year. This series of data shows that the Guangdong LED industry has a strong internal growth and good market prospects, and it plays an increasingly important role in the global LED industry structure. At present, Guangdong has a total of more than 4,000 LED companies, bringing about nearly 3 million related employment. Among them, there are 25 LED listed companies, accounting for 60% of the total number of LED listed companies in China, with a total market value of nearly 100 billion yuan.

As for the application of innovation results, as of the end of September 2014, Guangdong had granted LED patent grants of 67,391, accounting for 29.30% of the total LED patent authorizations for the same period, accounting for 5.88% of all patents granted in Guangdong during the same period, and the LED industry’s technology self-sufficiency rate has steadily increased. . At present, Guangdong has issued a total of 15 batches of outdoor lighting product benchmarking catalogues and 11 batches of indoor lighting product benchmarking system catalogs, and a total of 3,145 benchmarking system products have been recommended.

Huang Ningsheng also revealed that Guangdong plans to complete more than 130 local standards and 5 national standards within five years, and establish and improve a LED industry standard system with Guangdong characteristics, service to the nation, and international influence.

When talking about the direction of future development, Huang Ningsheng said that in the next step, Guangdong will push forward in four areas:

One is to cultivate and develop the visible light communication industry as the starting point, and explore the cross-border use of the new blue ocean in the LED industry. The second is to continue to use standard optical components as the starting point to seize the high ground of the industry standard. The third is to cultivate new industries as the starting point and enhance the industrial value chain. The fourth is the multi-agent collaborative innovation as the starting point to create a good ecosystem for industrial development.

For example, in cultivating and developing the visible light communication industry, Guangdong plans to organize the implementation of major science and technology projects of "visible light communication technology and standard optical components" and rely on Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou and other LED industrial bases to vigorously build visible light communication industry clusters. At the same time, it vigorously supported the work of China's strategic alliance for technological innovation in the visible light communication industry, vigorously introduced top-notch technical teams at home and abroad, accelerated the breakthrough of key core technologies in the visible light communication industry, and created a new growth pole for strategic emerging industries.
