On March 25th, I was invited to participate in the 2017 Snowball Summit Forum. I shared some new thoughts on deep learning with the friends of the Snowball community who support Cheetah. Here are some of the original speeches and shared with you:
Recently, China's hottest two topics: one is artificial intelligence, and the other is Beijing house prices. Beijing housing prices have been ups and downs, affecting our hearts.
Recalling that I came to Beijing soon, and I was rushed by my landlord. There was no place to live. I bought a house in Tongzhou. I remember that at that time, the average price of the house was more than 3,000. At that time, there were only tens of thousands of pieces. When I handed over the room, I sat on the small balcony on the first floor. I thought – for three thousand a month, what can I do? Later, across the heart, I was too big to sell the house and go back to my hometown.
After a few years, Tongzhou was not the Tongzhou of the year. The house prices also rose into this way, and there were mourning everywhere.
At that time, as a drifting family, I also struggled with my own efforts. I never thought that one day, the cheetah could be listed on the NYSE. On May 8th, 2014, I stood on the bell tower and watched the busy staff of the NYSE, and rang the bell. At that time, I was very emotional.
I am thinking, why can I grow from a mile of 3,000 pieces a month to a person who has the opportunity to become a US listed company?
I have been thinking for so many years.
I don't think it's because of how good I am. One day, there was such an opportunity. I entered the Internet and entered an industry that was not optimistic at most.
This industry, in the view of companies in the traditional industry, is nothing more than a Web Page; in the eyes of technology people, it is a TCPIP (aka network communication protocol); in the traditional hardware vendors, it is a simple portal. In short, it is nothing new and special.
However, there are a bunch of young people who are fearless and ignorant, and who are constantly working hard in this industry, have spawned a group of Internet entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs, to say the starting point, I do not think how high. But in this industry, they gain recognition that other industries cannot. Their understanding of the entire Internet, their understanding of users, and their understanding of information transfer far exceed the entire accumulation of generations in the industrial age.
It is precisely because of such a single breakthrough that a group of entrepreneurs like me are fortunate to rise.
Cognition is the only weapon for human progress
I read a book called "A Brief History of Humanity". I was particularly excited at that time. So I flew to Israel and met the author. I asked him to have an exchange in Beijing. To this end, I wrote an article "Cognition is the only weapon for human progress," including the rise of Homo sapiens, which lies in cognition. It's not because Homo sapiens' brain capacity is bigger than other animals. The core is that they can make many people believe in a virtual thing or concept.
Human beings believe in the sages of the past, believe in Confucius, believe in Muhammad, believe in Sakyamuni, and become a believing in technology. I believe that technology changes life. In particular, China has believed in the Internet for the past 20 years.
The Internet is a brainstorm for all mankind. It is like a coral, the coral is very small, but a cavity can connect all the corals together and grow into a huge hard coral reef. The Internet can be imagined as a network. It connects the clever heads that were previously scattered around the world, causing everyone to collide quickly.
Because of this, the time for the spread of human knowledge has been greatly shortened. In the past, the spread of a concept took at least 100 years, or hundreds of years. Like Newton's laws, if we want to spread to China and eventually become China's productive forces, we have experienced such modern scientific knowledge from the Opium War to the Westernization Movement to the last New China.
To this day, an AlphaGO has appeared and its papers are being studied all over the world. This speed of transmission has been shortened extremely quickly, and there is tremendous productivity behind it.
The biggest difference between people is in cognition.
I will combine this concept with people. Let us think about it: How can a person stand out from a group of people? How can one become different?
I remember that when I first saw Ray, I was very excited. At that time, he just left Jinshan, and friends introduced us to know. Before I saw him, I was still imagining. Is there a halo behind his head? When I first met Ma Huateng, I was also imagining. Is this person a three-headed six-arm?
Later, I talked with them for a long time, and often went to ask for advice, and found that they are actually very hardworking people. Lei always chats with me every time, and he is very excited in the middle of the night. Tencent also has a group of highly experienced senior officials. In a certain war, I had close contact with Tencent. Once I was about Pony and MarTIn, they said that you have no time at 12 o'clock in the evening.
You see, there are a bunch of very hardworking people.
However, there are many people who are diligent. What caused them to exist like God now? Do we have a chance to approach them?
In a recent article, "The so-called growth is cognitive upgrade," I summed up a sentence: the difference in skills is quantifiable, and the difference in cognition is not quantifiable, it is essential. In other words, your perceptions and opinions about one thing determine your firm belief in one thing, and whether you can quickly grasp the information and make the right decisions. This may be the biggest difference between people.
Cognition is the only barrier and the core of growth. The last cognition captured by the cheetah is the internationalization of the Chinese Internet. So, what is the next opportunity?
