Google launches commercial software online store to challenge Microsoft
On March 11th, Google opened an online store of commercial software as a service hosted in the Internet "cloud computing".
According to Chris Vander Mey, product manager for Google ’s app market, Google ’s app market launched on Tuesday has software products from more than 50 companies, including Intuit ’s online payroll program for small businesses.
In a post published on Google's website, Mey said that today, we launched a new online store for integrated business applications to make it easier for users and software providers to do business in cloud computing.
The cloud computing program is hosted on the Internet and does not require people to purchase, install and maintain this software. Mey said that we found that when companies experience the benefits of cloud computing, they will require more cloud computing services.
The applications in the Google App Market are synchronized with the programs in a set of applications. Google provides this program as an online service.
According to Google, in the past three years, more than 2 million business users have used Google applications.
Google's application challenges software sold by rival Microsoft. Most of Microsoft's revenue comes from sales of software and licenses installed on users' computers.
