Murata, a Japanese electronics manufacturer, launched its new smart concept glasses at CEATEC 2015. According to Murata's official statement, this smart glasses using AR technology is implanted with the world's smallest micro-PS switch module, enabling users to remotely control family things. For example, after using Murata glasses, users don't have to work hard to find the remote control from the gap in the sofa, or go for a walk to turn off the lights; users only need to bring Murata glasses to complete these tasks remotely.
Many smart glasses use a front projector to directly project the image onto the user's lens, which is not the case with Murata glasses. It integrates all of the hardware into the frame (which also causes the Murata frame to be a bit bloated). These hardware devices include a miniature infrared laser mounted in the frame on the right side of the glasses. Murata is developing a miniature sensor that they hope to use in conjunction with the sensor to remotely control electrical equipment in the home.
When using Murata glasses, the user first focuses on the appliance they want to control, and then the option to control the device appears on the glasses screen. If you want to confirm the options, the user only needs to press the button on the frame on the right side of the glasses. This button also has a rotation function that can be used to navigate menus and adjust parameter settings such as volume, power, speed, brightness, and more. According to Murata, the switch control module is 3.2 x 3.4 x 2.3 mm, which is the smallest of its kind in the world.
At the CEATEC conference, Murata showed the function of the glasses in a mini model house. Since the sensor is too small in the small model house, the positioning of the line of sight is difficult, but once it is applied to the real house, the volume of the household appliance is enlarged, and there should be no problem with the target confirmation.
Murata hopes to bring the pressable/rotating buttons to the market in large quantities next year, but the launch time of Murata glasses is still pending. However, Murata has long-term product development experience, and their product cycle has been relatively long. For example, this year, Murata also exhibited the "robot cheerleaders" developed by the company. This product was exhibited at CEATEC last year, but this year's products have seen many significant improvements compared to last year. Therefore, it is not difficult to estimate that we may see further improvement of Murata glasses at CEATEC 2016 next year.
